Description
Create inspirational landscapes and cityscapes using crayons, fabric paint, Inktense pencils, collage and more! finishing with free motion quilting to highlight and accent your art. The first class will be learning the techniques, instruction, design, and coloring/painting. The second class will be highlighting and accenting your art piece with stitching such as free motion stitching. Sewing machines will be needed for the second class only! Note: Homework may be required before the second class to get your art piece to a ‘stitch ready’ stage Darlene is a Mixed Media Artist, who creates art that celebrates life, with paint, fabric and other mediums. Darlene's work has won awards in several shows and is in homes from coast to coast. Darlene has taught at Johnson's Sewing Centre, Metro Continuing Education and Central Sewing, as well as for several guilds.
What Does the Student Bring to Class? 1st Class - Oct 29:
- Inspiring landscape image
- Pencil and eraser
- Wax crayons (i.e. Crayola crayons)
- White fabric - approximate fat quarter size (18 x 24”)
- Matte Medium (i.e. Golden, Liquitex, Artist’s Loft)
- Glue Stick, or YES Paste – for gluing papers to fabric
- Piece of quilt batting same size as fabric - provides cushion when coloring
- A couple of magazines (for words and collage items)
- If you have your own Inkense crayons, watercolour crayons or any other medium you wish to try in class, please bring it along with you
- Bag lunch
- Indoor shoes
Note: The Instructor will share her Inktense crayons, fabric paints and mixed media items during class. However, they will not be available to take home if you have homework. 2nd Class - Nov 5:
- Sewing machine and all sewing tools (scissors, machine needles, etc.)
- Free motion quilting foot/open toe foot
- Various threads (for thread play)
- Bag lunch
- Indoor shoes
