Creating Yardage for Artwear with Hermina Jolderma

Description

In this class you will work with your own (beloved) fabric to start creating cloth you can use to make artwear (especially though not only jackets). We will analyze examples to understand the principles of creating wearable cloth from all sorts of fabric types and pieces. We will practice some techniques (slashing, couching, origami using silk sheer, bias accents, raw edge collage). What you will come away with: notes, samples for techniques, a worksheet filled with your ideas, and – depending on how you work – some actual yardage.

Day 1 starts with discussing  examples (instructor’s)  and principles. You will start to generate some ideas about your fabric and learn/ practice some techniques. On day 2 you will learn/practice some more techniques as needed so you can start putting your own fabric together into yardage.
