Workshop Guidelines

What is a Virtual Workshop

Remote workshops are online meetings led by someone who teaches a new skill or technique to a group of participants using digital platforms and tools. The participants may either be in the same room or in separate physical spaces, but the person who leads the session is usually located elsewhere.

When you register in a virtual workshop, you will be emailed a link, usually on the Zoom platform, that allows you to enter the session with your computer. You will need a computer, iPad, or smartphone with video and audio to participate.

A link will appear on the workshop description page when registration opens. Instructions for payment will be emailed shortly after. Registration does not guarantee a spot. Confirmation will follow within one week.

Registration will open approximately 60 days before the first class starts.

While workshops are offered to members in good standing, a fee will be charged for each workshop. This fee will vary for each workshop, which includes all handouts and some materials. Alternatives may be provided. We are unable to waive this fee for any reason.

We are unable to refund fees. If you are unable to attend, please contact president@focusonfibreart.org

  • Cancellations will allow us to fill spots from the wait list if we have one.

  • You may register for more than one workshop if others are offered.

  • Your acceptance of your first workshop will be confirmed as soon as your payment is received.

  • You may be put on a wait list for the second workshop and will receive confirmation of your place in your second choice.

  • We are trying to allow as many people as possible access to at least one workshop. Please note that you may not be accepted into a workshop due to other considerations.

In-person Workshops

The in-person workshop fee for non-members is an additional $50, plus the cost of class fees as noted above.

Participants are expected to follow our guidelines:

  • Workshops start on time. Arrive no more than 15 minutes before session start time.

  • No perfume or scented products, please.

  • No videos. Photographs may only be taken with instructor’s permission.

  • Be mindful of instructor’s time; no chatting during lectures, etc.

  • Phones need to be turned off or on silent/vibrate.

  • Clean up your workspace at the end of the day/class.
