Have you wondered whether these terms are interchangeable? What does it take to get into a juried show? Should you enter a judged exhibition? Why would you do so? What does a Curator do? Is that the same as judging a competition or juried event? 

 

Judy Weiss, Edmonton Fibre Artist and Curator of the 2026 Grand National Fibre & Quilt Exhibition (Grand National), will help us understand the differences. She will discuss how to read guidelines and prepare the best entry for the exhibition or competition type of your choice. 

 

Judy’s fibre art pieces have been shown in exhibitions, public art galleries, and in Fibre Art Now magazine. In 2022, her felted landscape Aspen Parkland won the Viewer’s Choice award for the Grand National.  In 2015/16, she was an invited artist in Ties That Bind, a 2-year, curated Travelling Exhibition Program (TREX), sponsored by the Alberta…
